As Hurricane Matthew pounds Haiti with rain and wind, Mission Aviation Fellowship’s Disaster Response Team is preparing to respond.

MAF has been providing air service in Haiti since 1986, and has a permanent base in Port-au-Prince. Six MAF missionary families and 15 Haitian staff are sheltering in their homes. The team expects to begin damage assessment flights and transport of relief supplies and personnel once the storm subsides.

MAF serves the missionary community and the people of Haiti with three aircraft flying to 13 remote airstrips. Development agencies, non-profit disaster relief organizations, and work teams from the U.S. rely upon MAF for safe transportation to hard-to-reach areas. MAF has responded to numerous other disasters in Haiti, including the devastating earthquake of 2010, a cholera outbreak in 2010, and Tropical Storm Isaac in 2012.
