Speaking of Water

Rushing, tumbling, gushing water! There’s nothing quite like the cacophony of a big waterfall, ocean waves after a storm, or a gigantic mountain stream roaring over boulders.

In your mind’s eye, imagine yourself standing near a majestic water scene. What does it sound like? Can you feel the spray of water on your face? What do you think the water might be saying to its Creator God?

I pondered these things as I stood by the tumultuous Payette River on a recent trip to the mountains. If nature praises God, then what could these waters be saying?

When we lived in Indonesia, I wondered the same thing when the skies opened up with monsoon downpours, or when the waves pounded the sands of Penang Island where our children went to boarding school in Malaysia.

Psalm 93:3-4 (AMPC) gives insight into what rushing waters might be expressing!

The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice;
the floods lift up the roaring of their waves.
The Lord on high is mightier and more glorious than the noise of many waters,
yes, than the mighty breakers and waves of the sea.

Isn’t that amazing to think that nature proclaims the mightiness and glory of God?! I want to speak “water” and praise to the Lord too. It certainly puts things in perspective. The Lord on high is mightier and more glorious than the noise of many waters. YES!
